Since 1984, our Summer Session has provided families from throughout the greater Albuquerque community with options for planning enriching and exciting summers for their children. Summer Session is an integral part of the Academy, reinforcing our unique mission of accessibility, affordability, excellence, and outreach. It also supports the community life that we try to build for families, as we happily see our summer students and their siblings, as well as children of alumni, return again each summer. We are equally pleased to offer our program to students visiting Albuquerque and New Mexico each summer.

At the center of our summer experience are the talented summer employees we bring to campus. They come from throughout New Mexico and the wider educational community, nationally and internationally, to help build our programs. Their qualifications and talents are the greatest strength of the program. We support these faculty members, and our students by maintaining a 1:15 class ratio and hiring remarkable students to assist teachers and serve as camp counselors. We often hear that many of our summer students' most memorable experiences come from interacting with older students who serve as exemplary role models.

With our sunny skies and temperate climate, summer never seems very far away in Albuquerque. It reminds us of how much we enjoy opening the campus to the sounds, sights, and accomplishments of our summer students. See you there!

The Albuquerque Academy Multicultural Summer Honors Program is a half-day summer scholarship program, which takes place during the six-weeks of Summer Session. Participants in the program are academically talented and motivated African American, Native American, Hispanic, and other students who will enter the fourth and fifth grade in the following fall. Students applying to this program are asked to complete an application packet that includes teacher recommendations and a written essay. The Albuquerque Academy Director of Multicultural Outreach, along with the multicultural parent support groups, select students for the Summer Honors Program.

Each year, 100 Summer Honors scholarship recipients receive full tuition equal to the cost of four Summer Session class periods. Students must be able to attend the entire six-week program and provide their own transportation.

Applications for the 2008 Summer Honors Program are now available until Thursday, January 31, 2008 and must be returned by Friday, February 1, 2008. You may click on the link below to download the application forms, or request an application by clicking on the "Request Information" box on this page. Please allow 5 to 7 days for the application to arrive.

For more information about applying to this program, please call or e-mail the Summer Session Office (505) 858-8811.
