Albuquerque Academy offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time faculty and staff. The program is designed to reflect the needs of Academy employees, and to promote physical and emotional well being for employees and their families.

The employee portion of benefits below that are marked with an asterisk (*) is paid through salary reduction on a pre-tax basis.

*Medical insurance is offered through Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico. The Academy pays 75% of the cost and the employee pays 25%.

*Dental insurance is offered through Delta Dental, with the Academy paying 75% of the cost and the employee paying 25%.

The cost of basic life insurance is split between the Academy (75%) and the employee (25%). Supplemental, spousal, and dependent insurance are available, with the employee paying the full premium.

*The Academy's 403(b) retirement plan, offered through TIAA-CREF is voluntary until age 36, at which point participation is mandatory. The employee and Academy contributions vary, depending upon years of participation.

Short-term disability is available after three months of service and is paid in full by the Academy.

Long-term disability is available after one year of service (waived with proof of five years prior long-term disability coverage), and is paid in full by the Academy.

*Flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care reimbursement are offered upon employment and funded through employee salary reduction.

Tuition remission is available for dependent children who meet the regular admission requirements and are accepted during the annual admission cycle. Eligibility is limited to seven school years and to a maximum of two full tuition remission grants per family. The Academy pays tuition; the employee pays for lunch, books, and other expenses.

All Academy faculty and staff are offered discounted tuition for Summer Session classes and day camp programs for dependent children ages 6-18.

Employees and/or family members may receive up to five one-hour counseling sessions through the employee assistance program at no cost.

Full-time members of the Academy staff are offered four weeks of paid vacation, pro-rated for the first year. Other schedules apply for part-time and school-year employment.

The Academy provides grants for faculty and staff professional development in connection with faculty global travel, creative projects, graduate work, projects directly related to classroom teaching and curriculum development, and attendance at educational and/or professional conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Academy employees are offered a discount through a corporate membership at New Mexico Sports and Wellness at any of its five locations.

The College Guidance Office offers assistance in college selection for all employees' children whether or not they attend Albuquerque Academy. There is no cost to the employee for this service.

Lunches are provided at no cost to all employees when school is in regular session.

Employees and family members are welcome to use the Academy's facilities, including the library, gym, weight room, tennis courts, and swimming pool. There is no cost to the employee, although some restrictions do apply.



Albuquerque Academy is located in northeast Albuquerque, a city of just over 500,000 bordered by the Sandia Indian Pueblo on the north, the Isleta Indian Pueblo on the south, the Sandia Mountains (elevation 10,678 feet) on the east, and the Rio Grande River on the west.

New Mexico’s multicultural population includes Native American, Hispanic, African-American, Asian, and Anglo groups.
