We are proud to announce that Albuquerque Academy earned the 2021 College Board AP Computer Science Principles Female Diversity Award.
The award recognizes expanding the access of young women to the AP course itself and, more broadly, to computer science education in general. The Academy is dedicated to ensuring access for all of our students to education on as many topics as possible, and we are proud to be one of the 760 schools recognized for the CSP Female Diversity Award.
“By encouraging young women to study advanced computer science coursework, Albuquerque Academy is closing the gap in computer science education and empowering young women to access the opportunities available in STEM career fields,” says Stefanie Sanford, College Board chief of Global Policy and External Relations. “…[Y]oung women deserve equal opportunities to pursue computer science education and drive technological innovation.”
“It is nice they noticed our efforts,” says Computing Department Chair Kevin Fowler, “but we still have lots of work to do in getting more enrollment in our CS courses.”
