In some mathematics and science courses, students will be loaned a textbook to use in lieu of asking them to buy one. Before school starts, students in grades 8-12 should bring their schedule and student ID to check out their Charger books at the Charger Book Room, located on the second floor of the East Campus Administration Building. If a student’s class changes books, they should return to the Charger Book Room to exchange their texts; otherwise, borrowed texts should be returned at the completion of each class. Should a student change classes or misplace their textbook, they should contact Jeanette Sanchez, firstname.lastname@example.org, to return or replace the text.
Charger books are marked with a black number on the bottom and are stamped on the inside cover. They are loaned to a student at no cost as long as the same copy (as indicated by its number) is returned in good condition at the end of the course by the student to whom it was originally checked out. Students are strongly encouraged to write their names in these books; all charges for lost or damaged books are reflected in the June billing statement. Misappropriation of a loaned textbook — taking a book that has been signed out to another student without the explicit permission of that student — may be treated as a disciplinary matter. Students in the 6-7 division will get their books after school has started.

Students must be completely clothed from their underarms to at least a surrounding two-inch inseam around their legs.
- All shirts must have straps or sleeves.
- No clothing will be translucent from the underarms to the two-inch inseam.
- Footwear must be worn throughout the day.
- Hats, including hoodies, are always allowed outside, in hallways, and in common spaces. Hats/hoodies may be worn in classrooms only at the teacher’s discretion. Hats/hoodies are never allowed during common times, class meetings, and assemblies.
- No clothing, including masks, will depict ideology contrary to Academy philosophies and policies, whether stated or implied.
Students not following the dress code will have to change clothes immediately. When being dress coded by a faculty member, the student may be directed to the division head and dean of students to comply with dress code. Parents may be called to bring appropriate items to school. Additional violations or arguing with a faculty member while being dress coded will result in disciplinary action.
Personal electronic devices must be used in a way that will not be a distraction to others. Headphones or ear buds must be used for anything involving sound. Teachers may confiscate phones and other devices if students are using them inappropriately.
During the school day, cell phones are not to be used inside campus buildings. On breaks or free time, students may use phones outdoors, in the gyms, in the non-classroom areas of the library, and in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade commons.
In the classroom, laptops, cell phones, and other electronic devices should be closed and stowed away unless a teacher gives explicit permission for a particular use related to that day’s activity.
Students need to be aware that anything they do on an electronic device can be tracked, and anything deemed inappropriate may possibly lead to disciplinary action. Severe misuse of electronic equipment (such as going to inappropriate sites or participating in electronic bullying or harassment) could affect a student’s standing at the Academy.
Students found using technology inappropriately will be reported to the dean for appropriate consequences.
If you ordered a laptop through the Academy, you will receive an email when it arrives.
School supply lists are not issued for 10th-12th graders; your individual teachers will give you detailed information if they expect you to have specific items.
Students will receive their academic schedules the week before school begins. Schedule change forms may be completed on Monday, August 15 and Tuesday, August 16 3-5 p.m. Please see the form for further instructions.
School photos for grades 8-12 are scheduled Wednesday, September 7 and Thursday, September 8.
Seniors, please plan to have school photos taken, even if you are having senior portraits taken. The school needs these photos throughout the year for various purposes. Thank you!
