Byron Herrington has lived in Albuquerque since 1981, but was born and raised in the dusty flatlands near Lubbock, Texas. He attended schools in Port Isabel, Texas and Ada, Oklahoma. After almost completing a trombone performance degree at the University of Oklahoma (with Dr. Irvin Wagner), Mr. Herrington won a position with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra where he performed and occasionally conducted for over 30 years. He is a founding member of the New Mexico Philharmonic as trombonist and conductor of youth, neighborhood, and pops concerts and has been Principal Trombonist with the Santa Fe Symphony since 2002.
