Help Support Our Community: Deadline December 13

The Albuquerque Academy Community Service Executive Board (10-12 student service leaders), the 9th Grade Community Service Club, and the 6-7 Community Service Club invite you to participate in their winter/holiday drives to support our neighbors in need. Deadline for all collections is December 13.

A Light in the Night Holiday Gift and Clothing/Necessities Drive (10-12 Community Service Executive Board)

So many families, teens, and adults in our community are facing homelessness this holiday season. Many cannot find space in the full shelters and end up on the streets, in cars, or with family or friends. A Light in the Night provides food, clothing, and other necessities to these folks all year. We are seeking new and very gently used donations to distribute to those in need at their second annual holiday party. Click to view the list of needs, donation and delivery details, and to sign up to donate. Please bring UNWRAPPED (in gift bags is helpful but not with wrapping) donations to the donation stations (bins in 6-7 Admin building, south hallway of Brown, north hallway of McKinnon). Valuable items and gift cards can be left with Ms. Jones, Ms. Crawford, or Ms. Eckhardt.

Locker #505 New Shoe Drive (9th Grade Community Service Club)

We are collecting new athletic or casual shoes sizes toddler 10 to adult 15 for women, men, girls, and boys for Locker #505, which provides appropriate school clothing to K-12 Bernalillo County students in need. They are a student-focused facility where children whose families are unable to provide for them can try on and choose outfits that they feel good about wearing, allowing them to concentrate on their school work, not their clothing. Please bring new shoes to McKinnon 221 (Ms. Vogenthaler’s office).

Animal Humane Pet Supply Drive (6-7 Community Service Club)

Even pets need support during the holidays! We are seeking dog and cat toys, pet food, litter, leashes, etc. for the cats and dogs awaiting adoption at Animal Humane NM. Please bring items to the decorated crates in the 6th and 7th grade commons or the 6-7 Admin building.

Thank you for joining us to support our community in this season of giving! Contact Dara Johnson for questions.
