The second course begins with the orientation in the natatorium on March 10, 2019 (4–5 p.m.). Practical skills, in-pool skills, and testing will be April 13 and 14, 2019 (9 a.m.–5 p.m. both days). Attendance is mandatory for all sessions.
The orientation includes a bit of paperwork, an explanation of the class, including the online part of the course, as well as a water test. The water test includes: swim 300 yards continuously (using both freestyle and breaststroke), tread water for 2 minutes without using hands, and swim to pick up a brick off the bottom of the pool (timed).
Students must be 15 years of age by the last date of the class in order to participate. The fee is $120 plus an online fee of $35 that is paid to the American Red Cross.
Space is limited to 10 students per class. Please email Carolyn Snyder or call at 858-8808 to reserve your spot.
