Karl Orozco is a conceptual artist whose work centers on gaming as a method of community building and cultural exchange. He was the 2018 National Artist-in-Residence at the Neon Museum of Las Vegas, where he transformed their expansive studio into an intergenerational, community gambling space influenced by his grandmother’s underground Manila mahjong parlor. Karl was an Oberlin Shansi Teaching Fellow in Banda Aceh, Indonesia from 2013-15. Karl and his partner are the co-creators of the comic Prep School (www.instagram.com/prepskool), which follows four rebellious teenagers at a high school preparing students for the end of the world.
