Mackenzie Jarrell ’21 was recently honored as Outstanding Teen in Philanthropy by the Association of Fundraising Professionals – New Mexico Chapter. Mackenzie received the award at the annual National Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 4, 2017.
Mackenzie was selected for the award because of her passion for serving those in her local and global communities. Mackenzie has helped raise funds for several charities including New Day, Watermelon Mountain Ranch, Wounded Warrior Project, Read to Excel, and Roadrunner Food Bank, as well as for earthquake victims.
Mackenzie was a member of the Academy’s 2017 State Championship Girls’ Varsity Swim Team and Junior Varsity Track Team. She says her parents, US Army Veterans Robin and Bobby Jarrell, have instilled in her the importance of service and giving back to those who are less fortunate.
