Performing Arts

Students interested in dance at the Academy may begin taking classes in grade 8. A variety of dance styles are taught, including classical ballet, modern, and jazz.

Dance classes focus on technique and building artistry, aesthetic qualities of movement and phrasing, performance skills, musicality, composition and choreography, theory, vocabulary, dance history, kinesiology, stage make-up, and health.

Guest teachers are invited to share their talent with dance students throughout the school year. Students of dance are required to participate in fall and spring semester performances.

Dance Troupe is an after school intensive dance program for students in grades 8-12. Members are chosen through an audition process and receive unique training and performance opportunities.
