The Ex Ed department is offering a NOLS Wilderness First Aid course specifically for students this coming February. Ex Ed’s Mike Shaw, an instructor with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) Wilderness Medicine, will be teaching this two-day course that will end with students being certified for two years in Wilderness First Aid.
During this course, you’ll learn how to prepare for the unexpected. In just two days, you’ll have the knowledge, skills, and ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations. If you spend time in the outdoors or on local mountain bike trails or would like to boost your medical skills, this is a great course for both front- and backcountry situations. This student course costs $85, compared to public courses that are about $250.
This course is just for high school students, but we are also offering a community course on February 29-March 1 if anyone else is interested.
Student Wilderness First Aid Course
Dates: Saturday and Sunday, February 1-2, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Academy students can register here.
Students from other schools can also take the course (non-Academy students need to be 16 at the time of the course) and should email Sarah Councell for more information and to register.
