Birthday Books

Simms Library invites you to celebrate special occasions by funding the purchase of a book at Simms Library. Through the Birthday Books program, you can recognize a student, alumnus, teacher, family member, or friend on their special day, and make an important and lasting contribution to the library’s collections.

With your contribution, the library will purchase a new book (or CD or DVD) for the collection. You may choose a subject that is special to the person you are honoring or you can let the librarians choose the subject. When the Birthday Book is added to the library, a bookplate recognizing you and your honoree is attached and you will be notified that it is available in the library. What a meaningful way to celebrate a birthday, graduation, anniversary, or any other special occasion.

Wills and Estate Planning

We invite you to become a member of The Laura Lee Moore Society joining parents, alumni, and friends who have remembered the school through a bequest intention or other estate planned gift. Planned gifts can provide significant tax benefits while allowing you to establish a lasting relationship with Albuquerque Academy. You can make a planned gift through:

Gifts of Stocks and Bonds
Donating appreciated securities, including stocks or bonds, is an easy and tax-effective way for you to make a gift.

Gifts of Real Estate
Donating appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch, or commercial property can make a great gift.

Gifts of Retirement Assets
Donating part or all of your unused retirement assets such as a gift from your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension, or other tax-deferred plan is an excellent way to make a gift.

Gifts of Insurance
If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy. For example, you may have purchased a policy to provide for minor children and they are now financially independent adults.

If you have any questions about the best way for you to benefit through a planned gift, please call Dawn Lorenz, (505) 828-3203.

Laura Lee Moore Society
The Laura Lee Moore society recognizes, honors, and seeks to perpetuate the tradition of planned giving at Albuquerque Academy. Those who participate in any planned giving program – bequests, life income arrangements, or other deferred gifts – become members of the Laura Lee Moore Society.

Laura Lee Moore distinguished herself in Albuquerque’s philanthropic community for more than 25 years. Deeply committed to and involved in many nonprofit organizations, she is remembered for her integrity, persistence, passion, and great sense of humor. She served as president of the Albuquerque Academy Parents’ Association, chair of the board of trustees, and director of development. She created the Heritage Society, the Academy’s planned giving society, leaving a legacy of providing philanthropic opportunities for the visionary donors to care for and fund future generations of Academy students. As a permanent memorial to Laura Lee, the Heritage Society was renamed to the Laura Lee Moore Society.

For more information on gift planning, please call or email Dawn Lorenz, (505) 828-3203.
