We show up for Albuquerque.
Many families consider Albuquerque Academy because their children have already shown great academic ability. But we care just as much about curiosity, character, and willingness to ask thoughtful questions.
I show up with the spotlight.
Our productions are incredible. As stage manager, I’m the link between the actors and the crew, between the director and our tech heads, deciding how things should work. There are so many theater classes here, and they’re all so amazing.
I show up for my friends.
I’d been to multiple schools, so I knew that finding a community as soon as possible would really help me. I’d been a part of the swim community for a long time, and they really helped me find friends here. It was a lot easier to make friends at the Academy because our time separate from class is much more relaxed.
I show up for inclusivity.
Our outreach program is called Beyond the Baseline, and I think of that as a huge metaphor. How are you taking your tennis experience beyond the court, putting that into real-life scenarios? Everyone should be able to experience a sport, without barriers.
I show up for the books.
My first day, we took a tour of the school, and they brought us to the library. I was shocked by how many books there were — it was so different from my elementary school.
