Academy students enrolled in Alison Green’s Ceramics I class recently created dynamic clay sculptures inspired by photographs from the book Seeds: Time Capsules of Life, by Rob Kesseler and Wolfgan Stuppy (Firefly Books, 2006). Students transformed the seed concept into larger abstract forms, and then glazed their pieces using a contemporary color palette. Students emphasized texture, design, and form in their pieces, and glazed them using both low and high fire glazes.
The ceramic sculptures are for sale at $75/each, and on display at the Jennifer James 101 restaurant (4615 Menaul Blvd NE) through the end of February.
