MATHCOUNTS State Competition
Over 150 mathletes attended the state competition held Saturday, March 8 on the Academy campus. Albuquerque Academy’s team — Carter Abdallah ’18, Zach Auster ’20, Henry Luo ’18, and AnaMaria Perez ’20 — placed 3rd overall, and Henry Luo placed in the top 16 for individuals. Calvin Abdallah ’18, Sophie Carroll ’19, Tyler Kann ’18, Nisali Piyasena ’19, Gabriel Sandoval ’19, and Kevin Xue ’19 also competed in the State competition.

UNM-PNM Statewide Mathematics Contest
Albuquerque Academy students made a strong showing in the 2013-14 contest.
Overall standings:

American Math Competitions (AMC 10/12)
The top three scores for the Academy in the AMC 12-A competition were achieved by Andy Chen ’15 (Honor Roll), Gavin Epstein ’16, and Ben Zolyomi ’15. In the AMC 12-B competition, Andy Chen (Honor Roll), Eric Li ’14, and Katja Vassilev ’15 achieved the top three scores.
Dylan Hendrickson ’16 (Honor Roll), Thor Larson ’17, and Max Johnson ’16 acheived the top three scores in both the AMC 10-A and the AMC 10-B. Henry Luo ’18 and Eric Swiler ’19 received “Young Student Certificates of Achievement” for their scores in the AMC 10-A.
The following students have qualified to take the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME) by achieving scores on or above 93.0 (AMC 12-A), 100.0 (AMC 12-B), or 120.0 (AMC 10-A and 10-B):
