The team submitted a written essay on the topic “Resolved: Mass surveillance is not a justified method of governmental intelligence gathering,” and was selected to advance to the next round competing in a single-elimination, written debate tournament. Judges will continue to narrow the field of participants by selecting the best essays until only eight teams remain (click here to view the brackets and team pairingsfor the competition).
The final eight teams will earn an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to compete in the IPPF Finals, where the IPPF Champion will take home a $10,000 grand prize.
IPPF offers high school students around the globe the opportunity to engage in written and oral debates on issues of public policy. This year’s pool of entries totaled 243 from 32 U.S. states and 21 countries.
