Student Artwork Selected for Juried Exhibition in Santa Fe

Students submitted over 270 pieces of art for consideration by a panel of six art historians, artists, curators, director of a creative think tank, and gallery salespeople. From the 270 submissions, the panel selected 25 works to include in the exhibiton.

A press release about the exhibition sent by the gallery states: “The high level of artistic vision and skill of Academy students was remarkable to the jurors, and is a testament to the excellence of Albuquerque Academy’s visual arts department.”

Turner Carroll will donate a portion of all sales of student art work to Albuquerque Academy’s visual arts department to encourage creativity, innovation, and the entrepreneurial drive necessary for success in a changing world.

Opening night for the exhibition is Friday, April 24, 5-7 p.m., at Turner Carroll Gallery (725 Canyon Road, Santa Fe). The exhibition will remain on display through April 29.

In addition to the 25 works selected for the exhibition, artist/collector Stephen Buxton, an artist/collector who helped jury the student art submissions, created an “Artistic Vision Award” for the two- and three-dimensional works he believes show the greatest artistic inspiration in concept and presentation. Two award winning pieces, “Solitude” by Alexander Kinney ’15 and “Gentleman’s Cane” by Chase Keller ’18, have been selected and will be highlighted in the exhibition.
