Albuquerque Academy held its fifth annual LogosVocabulary Contest on May 11. The contest is a vocabulary competition specifically designed for 8th grade students.
Earlier in the year, all eighth grade students took a preliminary 50 question multiple-choice test to determine who would compete in the final oral round, conducted in a manner similar to a spelling bee. All students received an official list of words, based on their class vocabulary study and reading. Words not included on the official list were used to determine the winner.
The winner this year was Bailey McCarthy, who also was recognized for achieving the high score on the preliminary multiple-choice test. Stella Asmeron won 2nd place.
Other finalists were: Jay Buttermore, Hannah Cheves, Dan Chinenkov, Elias Garcia, Hannah Grenemyer, Alex McLaughlin, Stephanie Rifkin, Micah Sandman, Khushi Singh, Bronwyn Spears, Eric Swiler, Akshay Warrier, and Sarah Weber.
