Artwork by more than a dozen Academy students was recognized during the regional round of the Scholastic Art Competition. Founded in 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards recognize creative teenage students in 28 categories of art and writing. Pieces created by Albuquerque Academy students placed in the Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention categories with pieces in a wide variety of mediums.
“The work of the students who received a gold key will advance to the national level and be reviewed in New York City by arts professionals on three criteria: originality, technique, and emergence of a personal vision or voice,” said Visual Arts Department Chair Tim Mullane. “The winners of the national competition will be announced in March.”
The work will be on display from February 4-March 26 at Warehouse 508, 508 1st St. NW. Pieces can also be viewed at the online gallery at the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards online gallery, or by clicking the links below.
