Eight students from the 6-7 Robotics team participated in the 2024 AFRL New Mexico Robotics Challenge Expo on May 10. The Coders won the trophy for best pageant costume — awarded to the team that earns the most votes in the Flashy Chassis Pageant — and Ohio Programmers took honorable mention.
Students work in teams to explore the basics of robotics and coding, completing assignments they submit online to earn points. The top 30 teams, of more than 100 statewide, qualify to participate in the annual expo, which includes quizzes and running their robots through obstacle courses.
“They all put in countless hours, sometimes tears, and incredible team spirit,” says Coach Emily Wilson.
