The Albuquerque Academy Symphonic Band traveled to San Diego, CA, to participate in a Heritage Festivals WorldStrides Onstage event, scoring a Silver rating with their performance of “Overture for Winds,” “October,” and “III. Carnival” from “La Fiesta Mexicana.”
For his outstanding performance on piccolo, Jeremy Wesevich ’18 was recognized with an Adjudicators’ Choice award, one of eight given out for all band, jazz band, string orchestra, and vocal groups combined. Out of 599 total students participating in the festival from California, Utah, Arizona, Washington, and New Mexico, Jeremy also received the Ovation Award, recognizing his “contributions to our program that transcend the making of music, representing that spirit of determination, inspiration, and service to others that exists in all of us.”
