Junior Anique Win has been selected to serve as a co-chair for the 2021 Youth Celebrate Diversity Conference. The virtual conference, which will take place in February 2021, brings together students and teachers from across the state to discuss and learn about inclusion and social justice. Anique and her co-chair will give the welcome speech and introduce keynote speakers at the conference, among other duties. The event also offers more than 20 workshops for attendees, including West African Dance, Religious Diversity, Understanding Immigration and Immigrants, and more.
“We’re so proud of her!” says Jade Valenzuela, director of diversity and inclusion at the Academy. “We can’t wait to see what an incredible conference it will be for students from across the state.”
Youth Celebrate Diversity is a vital, multi-state organization that supports education in conflict resolution and discriminatory issues regarding ethnicity, orientation, refugee status, and social justice. Since YCD’s inception three years ago, Anique has served as a participant and member of the executive committee. She is also active in Albuquerque Academy’s Diversity Club.
