The College Board recently announced 23 Albuquerque Academy students in the Class of 2016 have been named 2015-16 National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) Scholars.
The College Board’s NHRP identifies academically outstanding Hispanic/Latino high school students. Each year, about 5,000 Hispanic/Latino students are selected from a pool of over 250,000 who take the Preliminary SAT/NMSQT. These students are from the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Mariana Islands, and the Marshall Islands, as well as U.S. citizens attending schools abroad. Approximately 200 of the top-scoring PAA™ students from Puerto Rico are also included.
Don Smith, Associate Head of School, commented on this achievement, saying, “We are so pleased to have so many of our students recognized as National Hispanic Scholars. We are very proud of their significant academic achievements as well as all of their other contributions to the school.”
The Academy’s 2015-16 National Hispanic Scholars are: Carolina Alvarez, Daniella Apodaca, Jack Apodaca, Erin Archibeck, Julia Baca, Brandon Catbagan, Channing Cimarusti, Kainoa Correa, Marcus Dominquez-Kuhne, Nicolas Fierro, Arynn Gallegos, Edwin Geisel-Zamora, Bryce Gordon, Kelly Hughes, Mica Jarocki, Samuel Lindsey, Elijah Lucero, Isabelle Lucero, Luis Ortega, Julien Rodriguez, Alec Squires, Samantha Stroud, andSean Taylor.
