Each team comprises four students, one alternate, and a coach.
The Middle School competition consists of an academic math and science competition and a model car race. The car race challenges students to design, build, and race their model cars. The Academy’s Middle School team tied for 7th place in the nation in the academic portion of the competition, took 3rd place in the electric car challenge, and were recognized in a barcode challenge.
The High School competition asks teams of students to solve technical problems and answer questions in all branches of science and math. Facing a difficult schedule, the Academy’s High School team made a fine overall showing, winning five matches in the most difficult of the eight divisions.
Congratulations to all team members, faculty coach Jason Zuffranieri, and science department chair Kevin Fowler!
