Competing against some of the strongest math students in the state, Albuquerque Academy’s middle school team earned second place overall in the state MATHCOUNTS competition held on Saturday, March 21, 2015.
Elias Garcia ’19 placed third overall and will travel to Boston as one of the New Mexico team representatives in the 2015 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition in May.
Kevin Xue ’19 and Cole Smidt ’21 placed in the top 16 overall, competing in the Countdown Round, a fast-paced (must answer math questions in 45 seconds), head-to-head competition.
