On Saturday, February 18, four Academy students competed in the Albuquerque Chapter competition for MathCounts — eighth-grader Arjun Grandhe and sixth-graders Mark Goldman, Susheer Paladugu, and Keith Lee — at the Centennial Engineering Center on the UNM campus.
The team finished in second place. After the sprint and target rounds, Arjun placed second and was able to compete in the countdown round as one of the top 10 competitors. He dominated in the countdown round and placed first for that round.
Both Arjun and Mark were listed as two of the top 25% of competitors. Individually, Mark finished in 14th place, Susheer in 20th place, and Keith in 22nd place among the chapter competitors.
