LAS CRUCES — Albuquerque Academy’s Clark Sonnenberg shot 5-under-par 67 Friday in the third and final round and earned a three-stroke win in the New Mexico/West Texas Junior Amateur tournament held at the New Mexico State University course.
Sonnenberg went 67-71-67 for a 205 over the three rounds and finished ahead of three El Paso golfers — Yaser Garcia (208), Santiago Lopez (211) and Grant McClesky (212). They topped a 43-player field, 21 of whom made the cut.
